The All Employee Meeting (AEM) is Physicians Mutual’s largest internal event of the year designed connect, educate and inspire employees. The theme for 2024 was the Olympics. I translated my video production and project management skills to event planning for 1,000 employees.
I led a team of 20 individuals to build the content, create the design, host the Olympic-themed events, produce videos, and collaborate with vendors for video and print production needs. I worked with executive leadership to build out their segments, wrote the master-script, and troubleshot stage movement and set pieces. I provided direction for Hollywood celebrity, John Michael Higgins, directed the show and built follow-up content for internal communications after the event. The buzz post-meeting determined out efforts for 2024 were a large success.
Perhaps the most rewarding part of this entire event was selecting and leading my team. Only three months prior, I had just returned from short-term leave due to a back surgery. I was physically weak and I knew I could not carry the team – but I could lead one. I looked across all corners of the organization for individuals I knew I could count on. I studied their unique traits and positioned them to own various parts of the meeting and allowed their ideas and creativity to elevate the mission I was tasked with. When you are a do-er, it can be a challenge to relinquish power. This AEM experience helped me realize the risk is worth the reward.
Due to the proprietary nature of AEM, I can only illustrate this massive undertaking with photos.
